DENE LAWS, created by Dene artist Lucy Fern, is a new body of works created during her month long residency as part of the Olivia and Greg Yuel Artist-in-Residence Program. DENE LAWS focuses on sharing Dene treasure. Each of the Dene Laws have a deep meaning and are essential values to learn for developing relationships with the cosmos, culture, and language. Our ancestors passed on gifts of strong language through art, syllabics, and orthography. By intertwining language and culture, we revitalize our heritage, which informs parts of our identity.
This exhibition is open from November 3rd, 2024 – March 31st, 2025 at Wanuskewin Heritage Park.
